Iran’s deputy health minister, who on Monday suggested that cases of coronavirus in the country were under control, has now tested positive for the illness.
Iran's deputy health minister Iraj Harirchi, who had been leading the country's campaign against the coronavirus, was diagnosed with the pneumonia-like virus, according to a spokesperson for Iran's health ministry.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Harirchi had tested positive for the virus. “The coronavirus test for Mr Harirchi, the deputy health minister who was on the front lines combating the coronavirus, was positive,” a spokesperson for the health minister tweeted, according to AFP.
