A new study has found which states have businesses struggling to hire employees the most.
, WalletHub compared all 50 states plus Washington D.C. on two key metrics: “Job Openings Rate ” and “Job Openings Rate .” The data that was used was gleaned from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Their findings placed the following in the top five states with the most hiring struggles: West Virginia ; Kentucky ; Montana ; Wyoming ; and Alaska . Pennsylvania, however, was on the other end of the spectrum in the number 38 spot, saving it from being amongst the top half states. “Many coming out of COVID who have worked remotely believe that another job might better meet their social, emotional, or economic needs, so they move on,” elaborates professor at the University of Michigan and partner at RBL Group, David Ulrich. “When social connections are limited because of working remotely, the relationship ties to the organization and team are reduced, so people may be more willing to seek a new job with the promise of social, emotional, and economic gains.
“Economic conditions also create a supply and demand balance for talent mobility. With economic recovery coming out of the COVID limitations, there is more demand for talent which gives employees more choice. If economic conditions change with an extended recession, the supply of talent will limit mobility.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
