The Last Stand features a custom Corvette that travels at fast speeds but is the car from the film actually real, or was it altered for the film?
The Last Stand features a custom Corvette for its villain character, Gabriel Cortez. The 2013 action film saw Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the screen in a leading role for the first time in 10 years. Unfortunately, the film didn't perform very well and was mostly forgotten. It was even accused of being an almost two-hour advertisement for the Corvette.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The film was directed by South Korean film director Kim Jee-woon, and it was his first American project. Despite taking place in Arizona and Mexico, The Last Stand was mostly shot in locations around New Mexico.
The Last Stand's Car Is A Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 The Corvette used in The Last Stand is a real Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1. The company actually provided the film with 14 cars to use for shooting. They gave filmmakers seven Corvettes to use for Cortez's car and also seven Camaros for Owen's to use. They were adapted for filming, though the adaptions featured in the movie were exaggerated.
Why The Last Stand's Car Doesn't Make Sense The features The Last Stand claims the Corvette has don't make much sense. The film claims the car can travel 500 miles without refueling, which is pretty impossible, especially while traveling at speeds of 200mph. The speed modifications could be possible, but the fuel efficiency doesn't add up. Clearly, this was a detail about the car that filmmakers made up in order to make it seem more impressive.
While many aspects of the car were fake, The Last Stand did use a real Corvette, which was modified in other ways. These alterations included having their suspensions modified for the many jumps featured in The Last Stand. It's possible to own a car as cool as the one in The Last Stand, but no car lover should expect theirs to have as impressive features as Cortez's Corvette has.
