Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah border crossing into Gaza Saturday morning to allow the passage of 20 trucks containing humanitarian aid for the strip's more than 2 million residents, who have been cut off from deliveries of food and other essentials since early in the Hamas-Israel war.
The first trucks passed the border post just after 10 a.m. local time, carrying mostly medical supplies and a limited supply of food, according to Egyptian officials. There will be around 20 trucks crossing into Gaza Saturday morning, the officials said. It wasn’t immediately clear if U.S. and other foreign citizens would be allowed to leave Gaza.
