“When you have an environment that supports authority ...you lose innovation,” says Bendov. “There’s no innovation coming out of Russia, China, Poland or Hungary.”

The Israeli entrepreneur believes the “game-changing” legislation would undermine Israel’s democracy and the economic future. There’s a coalition that is a perfect storm of religious right wing and a prime minister who’s in a delicate situation with the judicial system. Now, they’re trying to pass legislation that strip the Supreme Court of any real power. That would put us in the same situation as a Hungary or Poland or Russia.
