Israeli military says it is investigating whether Yahya Sinwar has been killed in an air strike on Gaza.
The Israeli military has said it is checking the possibility that Hamas leader and mastermind of the Oct. 7 attacks, Yahya Sinwar, has been killed.'During IDF operations in the Gaza Strip, three terrorists were eliminated. The IDF and ISA are checking the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed,' an initial report by the Israel Defense Forces said.
Photographs shared on social media purportedly showed Sinwar's body. However, they could not be verified.Israeli officials believed the body could be his, noting physical similarities and intelligence suggesting he was hiding in southern Gaza, reports stated.Hamas made no immediate comment, while Israeli soldiers continue to operate in the area where the strike took place.Since 2017, Sinwar served as Hamas' leader in the Gaza Strip.
