The Jerusalem Post reported Monday that Benjamin Netanyahu disbanded the war cabinet and had no plans to form a new one.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the dissolution of the country's war cabinet Sunday, The Jerusalem Post reported Monday, a widely anticipated move after the exit of centrist former general Benny Gantz from the government last week.'The cabinet was included in the coalition agreement with Benny Gantz at his request. As soon as Gantz left, there was no need for the cabinet anymore,' Netanyahu is reported to have stated.
Gantz's exit was prompted by what he described as Netanyahu's failure to put forward a clear strategy for the conflict. Eisenkot, who also left, cited similar concerns, emphasizing the lack of a comprehensive strategic approach from the prime minister.Gantz is a former Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff and a long-time rival to Netanyahu for the role of prime minister. Newsweek contacted his office for comment via email.
