Even before Alex Newell won their first Tony at last night's ceremony, they'd already made history.
In addition to gold, Newell also explains their current obsession with all things red, which is the color of their wig inSo it only made sense to bring the eye-catching look together with a voluminous red hair style. Not only as a compliment to the dress, but as an homage to Newell’s stage character.
“I’ve been obsessed with the color red, so much so that my wig in my show is red. So everyone has been yelling at me that if I don’t do the red in my personal life…so I said, ‘Let me just go ahead and do red for the Tonys,’” the formerstar says, adding that they knew the red would go “perfectly” with their gold aesthetic.
