The Special Counsel is seeking a gag order to stop Trump making remarks which could endanger law enforcement officials.
Special Counsel Jack Smith's team has submitted dozens of examples as to why Donald Trump should have a gag order imposed on him in the classified documents case.In June 26 court filings, federal prosecutors compiled 'all the exhibits in support' of their argument for Judge Aileen Cannon to set a gag order on the former president to prevent the Republican from making public statements which could pose a threat to law enforcement officials.
The filings include a New York Times report from January detailing examples of the homes of Smith and Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the federal 2020 Election interference case against Trump, having their homes swatted in January following frequent attacks from the former president.Other cited examples include an affidavit from Charles Hollon, who works in the Public Safety Department's Judicial Threats Assessment Unit.
