The star swiftly buttoned her shirt back up without missing a beat
She emerged on stage wearing a black jacket but struggled to wriggle out of it — which unfortunately resulted in one of the buttons on her white shirt popping open. Once she got the jacket off, she had trouble hanging it on a coat rack and slipped into the classic red cardigan worn by beloved television icon Fred Rogers .
Without missing a beat, Monáe swiftly buttoned her shirt back up and belted out the song — “Let’s make the most of this beautiful day, we’re here at the Oscars, so might as well stay!” — and made her way into the audience to deliver her top hat to Hanks himself, who was sitting in the first row.
