By a 4-2 vote, the Southwest Independent School District board named former Judson ISD leader Jeanette Ball as its superintendent finalist late Tuesday.Ball resigned under pressure
Ball began her career at Southwest ISD and held several administrative positions there before serving as Uvalde Consolidated ISD’s superintendent from 2014 to 2017. She was the superintendent at Judson ISD for just over four years. After more than an hour of deliberation in closed session, trustees Pete Bernal and Yolanda Garza-Lopez dissented from Tuesday’s decision to name Ball. Board President Sylvester Vasquez Jr. was not present.“I wish we could have chosen a candidate that had board consensus,” she said, noting that 40 candidates applied for the position, so it should have been possible to find one that the entire board agreed on.
