After wrapping up rookie minicamp this weekend, Mauga said he’s “just trying to prove that I have the ability to play wherever I’m needed.” The 22-year-old led USC with 90 tackles in 2021, including 5 1/2 tackles for loss and a sack. Plus, he had an interception, a deflection and a forced fumble. Explosiveness is a central part of Mauga’s game. During his college days, he displayed an ability to move quickly across the field laterally for someone of his size and deliver big hits in open space.
