Former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove slammed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for suggesting he could appoint Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead either the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the Food and Drug Administration if elected president.

During a Thursday interview on Fox News, Rove called DeSantis’s hypothetical pick for heading the two U.S. health agencies “a nutty idea.”“[Kennedy] is a guy who’s got incredible conspiracy theories that are just outrageous,” Rove said, before reading off his healthcare-related beliefs from a whiteboard. The listed “conspiracy theories” included RFK Jr.’s claims about vaccines causing autism, WiFi causing cancer, and antidepressants causing school shootings.

Rove added, “[Kennedy’s] got lots of conspiracies” besides healthcare, and he switched to another whiteboard. “The 2004 election was stolen as computers switched nearly a quarter million votes in Ohio from John Kerry to George Bush and thereby gave him the election, 5G is a mass surveillance tool and the telecomms, the telephone companies, are in on it. The CIA killed his uncle, Sirhan Sirhan didn’t kill his father,” Rove said.

Fox News host Bill Hemmer challenged Rove’s comments. Rove responded by saying RFK is only gaining attention because of his family name and the fact that President Joe Biden is weak.— Alex Thompson July 27, 2023DeSantis told OutKick’s Clay Travis on Wednesday that RFK Jr.’s stance on medical issues “does appeal to [him] but there's a whole host of other things that he’d be probably out of step with.” If elected president, DeSantis said he would not consider RFK Jr. to be his running mate.

Nearly two weeks ago, RFK Jr. made a controversial statement that COVID-19 was designed to “attack Caucasians and black people” while the “most immune” groups were “Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.” Though he denied being antisemitic, he said he has since regretted making those comments.
