After graduating from the University of Alabama, Britt held various positions for U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby’s campaign, eventually serving as his chief of staff before returning to the University of Alabama, where she graduated with a law degree.Britt is also the only Republican woman in the U.S. Senate with school-aged children; she’s openly referred to 2022 as “the year of the parent,” and referred to herself as a “mama on a mission.
“Hardworking moms and dads bring a unique, tangible perspective of how governmental action affects their everyday lives and their children’s future,” she said. “I’m going to be their voice in the Senate, and I also want to work to build a coalition of champions for parents and families to ensure we are truly able to move the needle at the federal and state levels.”
Britt has said she intends to focus on broadband expansion, mental and rural health care access, education and the opioid crisis at the state level. At the national level, she said inflation and “energy dominance” are two of the issues she’ll prioritize once she takes office.“We need to return to practicing the principle of peace through strength.
