Keith Blake, the 34-year-old Michigan City man found guilty of killing Valparaiso teen Noah Beller in his driveway on March 3, 2021, received a 35-year sentence Friday afternoon.
Fish handed down five years for the reckless homicide conviction, 19 years as an enhancement of that count, and 11 years on the charge of possession of a firearm by a violent felon. The Level 5 felony of possession of a handgun by a felon was merged with the possession of a firearm by a violent felon count as demanded by state law.Beller was shot after 10 p.m. at the foot of his driveway in the 3700 block of Oakgrove Drive on the city’s north side following a paternity dispute.
His voice broke repeatedly. “The sentencing today won’t fix anything. It won’t make anything better, but hopefully it will give you some closure.” “Those of you who requested leniency will also be disappointed,” Fish added, stating there were many aggravating factors to Blake’s guilt. “Mr. Blake’s criminal history is detestable.”
