President and chairman of Kobayashi Pharmaceutical resign as investigation into dozens of deaths continues.

Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's red yeast rice supplements are suspected of being behind 80 deaths in Japan

The decision was made "to clarify executive responsibility" over the issue involving its beni kōji fermented rice products, Kobayashi Pharmaceutical said. Affected customers reported symptoms such as changes in the colour of their urine, swelling in their limbs and fatigue.
