Kung Fu Panda 4 was revealed to be in development in August 2022, with a release date set for March 8, 2024. Jack Black will reprise his role as Po, who became the new Grand Master of the Valley of Peace at the end of Kung Fu Panda 3.
According to The Wrap, Black detailed the plot of Kung Fu Panda 4 during Universal's presentation at CinemaCon. He revealed that Po would be training a new Dragon Warrior, a fox named Zhen who isn't thrilled with Po having to train him. Soon, the pair are faced with The Chameleon, a villain who can bring back enemies from Po's past. Po and Zhen leave the Valley of Peace, traveling to the city for the first time in search of a way to defeat The Chameleon.

Black returned as Po for the Netflix series Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, which sees Po searching for four elemental weapons alongside Rita Ora's brown bear character Luthera. Kung Fu Panda 4 promises to continue Po's story while also adding new elements that will make the movie feel fresh and new.
The addition of Zhen as Po's new apprentice hints at Po's role as a master in Kung Fu Panda going forward. By training a new Dragon Warrior, Po has taken the role Master Shifu had for him in the first Kung Fu Panda movie. It's likely that Po and Zhen won't get along at first, but Po's kindness and pure intentions will inspire Zhen to become the Dragon Warrior.
The Chameleon's role as the villain could play on nostalgia for the original trilogy with familiar villains returning. It's possible Ian McShane's Tai Lung, Gary Oldman's Lord Shen, and J.K. Simmons' Kai could all make an appearance in Kung Fu Panda 4. With plenty of new and old ideas present in the movie, Kung Fu Panda 4 is shaping up to be an awesome new movie in the Kung Fu Panda series.
