Paul Atreides returned in a surprising place.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Kyle MacLachlan has finally returned to the world of Dune after 39 years - but it actually wasn't in Denis Villeneuve's movie. Kyle MacLachlan has been one of the most important figures in the Dune franchise since 1984, with many fans hoping that the actor could get a cameo in one of Villeneuve's Dune movies.

Kyle MacLachlan is a longtime David Lynch collaborator, appearing in projects like Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, but one of his most famous roles was in David Lynch's 1984 Dune adaptation. MacLachlan stars in the film as Paul Atreides, with him being the first live-action version of the character. Because of his significant role in the Dune franchise, many viewers have hoped MacLachlan will appear in a new Dune project - but he already has.

Kyle MacLachlan Cameos In Futurama Season 11's Dune Parody Episode Kyle MacLachlan returned to the world of Dune not in a movie, but in Futurama season 11's Dune parody episode. Futurama season 11, episode 4, "Parasites Regained" features the Planet Express crew shrinking down and enter Nibbler's litter box in order to exterminate some parasitic sandworms.

Once the Planet Express crew arrives in Nibbler's sandbox, the gang travels to a society of dung beetles who send Fry, Leela, Bender, and Zoidberg on their quest. One of these dung beetles is actually voiced by Paul Atreides himself, Kyle MacLachlan. Although it is just a cameo role in the Futurama episode, it's nice to see that the series is paying homage to MacLachlan's original role as the star of 1984's Dune.

Kyle MacLachlan's Futurama Role Is Better Than A Dune Part 2 Movie Cameo Although many viewers hope to see a cameo from Kyle MacLachlan in Dune: Part Two, his appearance in Futurama season 11 actually works better. The reception to David Lynch's Dune was mostly negative upon its release, and reminding audiences of the prior adaptation may not be the best idea.
