She said in her resignation she is leaving due to her husband's health challenges.First Coast News JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Lakesha Burton, the director of community initiatives with the Jacksonville Mayor's Office, is resigning, Mayor Donna Deegan announced Tuesday.
Her resignation comes after her husband, Greg Burton, took a sabbatical from his role as chief of the Duval County Public School Police Department. “The Burtons are in our hearts and our prayers as Greg faces unexpected health challenges,” Deegan said in a statement to the press."I am incredibly grateful for Lakesha’s service to Jacksonville both in the Mayor’s Office and over 24 years with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. She is a passionate and dedicated public servant who cares deeply about our community. I look forward to working with her in the future.
