Lamar football team looks to clear area-round playoff hurdle against Ridge Point
Tristen Brown and Lamar look to get past the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2017 when the Texans take on Ridge Point on Friday night in Katy.Michael Lindsey has not won an area-round playoff game since he took over for legendary coach Tom Nolen back in 2018.
“We are extremely hungry to get past this round and continue our season,” Lindsey said. “We feel like we have the team to do it and we feel like we have a good path ahead of us.” The Panthers are led by senior running back Ezell Jolly, who has 137 carries for 956 yards with 20 touchdowns. Jolly has five 100-yard rushing games this season. Sophomore quarterback Austin Carlisle is 104-of-169 passing for 1,595 yards with 15 TDs and two interceptions.
