More than 500 gymnasts sexually abused by the former doctor were awarded $380 million
Photo: Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images After years of legal battles, over 500 gymnasts who were sexually abused by former national gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar have reached a $380 million settlement with USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
Nassar, a former osteopathic physician, was arrested in 2016 on charges of sexual abuse and possession of child pornography. According to accusations from 265 victims, Nassar abused his position as a medical professional for years, molesting the girls under his care and often penetrating them with ungloved hands when they came to him to treat their injuries.
