Legacy Community Health gets a federal grant totaling $1 million to help treat...
a symbolic check in the amount of $1,000,000 to Legacy Community Health for the upgrade of their electronic medical records software.Legacy Community Health, which operates clinics in some of Houston’s most underserved neighborhoods, recently received $1 million in federal funds to update its Epic medical records software.
According to the LCH website, 51 percent of LCH's patients live at or below the federal poverty level. “I am proud to say that $1 million of your tax dollars are being returned to you right here at legacy clinic where they will make a difference to the people in this area,” Green said. The software upgrade would help Legacy better address the healthcare needs of Green’s constituents in the Ninth Congressional District, providing patients improved access to personal health information and appointment scheduling, Green said.
“Poor people don't have to suffer when they come here,” said Green. “It shouldn't be a facility that is one that doesn't invite you and provide a good environment for you. Legacy has demonstrated that poor people can have facilities that are just as nice as the one we have in Congress. That's a big deal for me.”“This money brings us so much closer to the ideals that our country was founded on—equality and justice,” said State Rep. Gene Wu.
