The creator of Lego's popular minifigure toy has passed away in Denmark following a battle with ALS.

"He was a true visionary whose ideas brought joy and inspiration to millions of builders around the world and we thank him for helping to create some of our most loved play themes," Julia Goldin, the Lego Group's chief marketing officer, said in a statement.One of Knudsen's former colleagues told Agence France-Presse that Knudsen had been living in hospice care and died on Wednesday.
