Although there is clear evidence of the many benefits of bilingualism , Canadian taxpayer dollars are directed toward a language policy that takes a narrow view of bilingualism. The policy limits rather than expands access to key positions in government. To be truly inclusive, it is time for the federal government to develop policies that recognize Canada as a diverse nation of multilingual citizens contributing to the country’s future.
