to determine whether books of questionable content should be allowed in school libraries. Again, the decision standard, and foremost responsibility of district leaders, is to determine whether these books promote the safety and well-being of district children.The San Ramon Valley School District debate over age-appropriate books was not to do away with these books but to define whether they should be in the school library for underage teens.

I believe the sexual content was not helpful or age appropriate. The detailed content and explicit pictures were for a different audience of adults only. It cites an analysis of American fiction from 1950-2018 showing 90% of published books by whites, contrasting this with whites supposedly being 60% of the U.S. population. To the extent the latter is true, it’s a current figure that averaged much higher over the 1950-2018 period.
