Opinion | Letters: Seeking safety, enforcement on public transportation
We arrived at Denver International Airport this past Sunday at 8 p.m. from a trip to the UK. On the train at DIA, we were greeted by Mayor Michael Hancock’s voice saying, “Welcome to the Mile High City.” We retrieved our luggage and got on the RTD A line to Union Station.
The bus terminal at Union Station is much the same. The lawlessness of light rail and Union Station has caused me to choose alternatives to RTD . It’s already a crime scene, but I can’t help think drug-related crime is close behind. Cherry Creek Shopping Center almost killed the central business district for good, but the whole trend toward converting old buildings to lofts saved it.
Some may believe Bennett Cohen and Jerry Greenfield’s stance is misguided. I disagree, but that’s a fair and honest conversation. But as Kafer rightly points out, what does this international political debate have to do with Colorado’s PERA investments? Their collective success made it possible for my family and our many neighbors to return to our unscathed homes Sunday evening.
Starvation causes migration that is exponentially more expensive than maintaining sustainable supplies of food. If those who have the means ignore this, their existential interests in a “green new world” will be the biggest of their “harmless” jokes.Re: “Biden seeks new sanctions, help for Ukrainians in Europe,” March 24 news story
When we mail in our ballots in November, I’m praying more Republicans will wake up to what is at stake for their grandchildren. This is not Republican against Democrat. It is truth vs. lies and right vs. wrong!I thoroughly agree with the letter writer’s view that it is unfortunate that HOA boards often are labeled by the media and community residents as tyrannical and “bad villains.
This funding supports promising new research in many areas, including early diagnosis, lifestyle adjustments to protect our cognition and creative approaches to slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s. Douglas County requires a great collaborator, negotiator and healer to mend the divisiveness that renders the school district less than effective. It has found such an individual in Erin Kane, should she accept the school district’s offer of $250,000, which is generous and appropriate.
First, for two scholars, they lack common sense and knowledge of history. Those inanimate things, the guns and other weapons of war, don’t cause war. Megalomaniacs, power-hungry sociopaths and just plain crazy people cause wars. My target pistol didn’t shoot anyone, ever. It harbors no ill will toward others. Until I load it, it’s just a paperweight. Eliminating weapons won’t solve anything. Reducing funding to the military could make the U.S. the next Ukraine. It is irritating to be subjected almost daily to breaking news about the “opioid crisis.” While it is a serious problem, little attention is afforded to cancer patients who need the requisite relief to avoid a life of misery.
Hope and support are what they need; gratitude and empathy are what we need. As the rapidly emerging cosmopolitan jewel of “the space between Chicago and L.A.,” I think we could create multigenerational inspiration for each other. What do you think?Like millions of adults with certain medical conditions who are not able to take the current COVID-19 injections, I have been waiting for the Novavax vaccine.
Meanwhile, the Putin regime seems to care less about upsetting the United States and most of the rest of the world. Putin has unjustifiably invaded a neighboring country and is indiscriminately destroying homes, hospitals, shelters and any structure his bombs, missiles and shells can reach. With the current pressures on our young people, mental health concerns are rising. As a mental health provider in a pediatric clinic, I have seen firsthand the rise in anxiety and depression among children of all ages. Mental health providers can help address these issues and work with families to ensure access to ongoing care for those who need it.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas either knew or should have known when he voted against turning over records to the Jan. 6 committee that the records in question would include transcripts of his wife’s texts to and from White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and possibly others. Every city park I have ever been to is littered with used condoms and needles and tagged with spray paint. I have to scan the children’s play areas before allowing my grandchildren to play, fearing what they would find. A $10,000 fine? How does that even make sense? This is a $20 fix at the most.
