Letters to the Editor
Re: “Writer is leaving The News — Pulitzer Prize winner will start new chapter after decades covering the community,” Tuesday Metro & Business story.is well done, but it cannot begin to capture what you and your work mean to our community. Your insightful writing will be sorely missed.I have great respect for the Child Poverty Action Lab and am excited for Alan and Sophie that you are joining such a wonderful organization.
You were fair, critical, supportive and inquisitive. You asked the questions to fill in the story and answer the questions you knew the readers would also be having in response. And there is no better way to cover some of the hard stories and hard truths we need to know about. Thank you for all you have done to help us learn more about what’s really happening in our fair city.. I’ve found your columns over the years informative, infuriating , inspiring, discouraging and always informative.
You’ve advocated very strongly for a just city as you see it, and whether I agree or disagree, I’ve never doubted that commitment or failed to trust your integrity. You have a strong and identifiable voice that comes through the pages as an important advocate in the community, and I’ll miss it.Congratulations, Sharon! Wow! You will be missed but I’m elated about this new chapter of service for you. No matter where you are, you will always make a difference.
Their columns will stay with me for years to come. Go forth, Sharon Grigsby, and do even more good work.Sharon, your thoughtful observations and welcoming writing style will be missed by all of your readers and fans. Thanks for all you’ve done to raise the level of the conversation in our communities. Best of luck to you in your new endeavor.Sharon Grigsby’s departure is a cruel reminder that all good things in life must come to an end.
