I respectfully disagree. Any resemblance to a true representative democracy in Texas died long ago. Uncontrolled district gerrymandering and rampant campaign donations by the wealthy few have destroyed any chance of us being a true representative democracy.Re: “Search divides members — Most don’t show up for special meeting called to speed up manager hunt,” Tuesday news story.
The U.S. Census Bureau states that about 300,000 Californians have moved to Texas from 2020 to 2023. Obviously, plenty of people gladly seek to move to Texas because of our “red state” policies, low taxes and business-friendly environment. Many of those fleeing California are doing so because of its liberal state policies and the unaffordable cost of living.
