Accusations of assault — sexual, racial, ethnic, religious — multiplying. Pandemic on the wane but still taking lives. Stock market put a giant hole in my retirement. Car needs a new transmission. Leak in the front room requires a new roof. Freezer in the garage died.
This afternoon, our 3-year-old grandson and I went fishing in the park, watched cartoons and topped off the day at McDonald’s. Making bubbles at bath time was the usual fun. Story time was the mutual recognition of, even having readdozens of times together, the ending being gleeful.
Thank you for this masterful trip down a fun memory lane for so many Dallasites who lived here in the late ‘60s and ‘70s. I could not help but recall other haunts: Adair’s on Cedar Springs for a pitcher of $1 beer and the biggest and best hamburger in town for 50 cents. Don’t forget the several Jamie’s locations — raise the table flag and get a refill of beans and chips. The original speakeasy, the Cellar downtown , the Loon, and Casa Dominquez.
