I am president of the Dallas chapter of PFLAG. PFLAG is the nation’s largest family and ally organization supporting LGBTQ+ interests with a belief that all people should be respected, valued and affirmed. The recent attorney general opinion, supported by Gov. Greg Abbott, describes an intention to reduce transgender youth care and to criminalize those providing affirming care.
Children, including all trans children, are entitled to love, compassion and affirmation. Our leaders should focus on helping children with their needs, not creating barriers to care.The Ukrainian battle for autonomy is likely to be protracted and accompanied by inconveniences we will be asked to accept on their behalf. The price of all fossil fuels is likely to increase further and remain high. Certain commodities associated with everyday needs will cost more.
