Formula One star Lewis Hamilton was knighted by Prince Charles for his services to motorsport.
Hamilton was first made a Member of the Order of the British Empire, also known as an MBE, at a ceremony within 2009. At the time, he received criticism for accepting the award after he had moved his primary residence to Switzerland.
“I will always fly the flag for Britain,” he told the, he mentioned that the queen had to give him a lesson in etiquette. “I got invited to a lunch and was sitting next to the Queen,” he told broadcaster“I was excited and started to talk to her, but she said, pointing to my left, ‘No, you speak that way first, and I'll speak this way and then I'll come back to you.’”
