The Panthers are the first repeat state champion in Class 4A since Lufkin Hudson accomplished that from 2012-13. “It was an amazing experience and humbling to be here,” Sweeny coach Darian Harris said. “I think that obviously not getting the result that we really wanted just allows us to be looking forward to the future already and hungry to come back. It’s a confidence booster for our girls that no one saw us here and there was a lot of doubts. The fact that we showed and improved that we could do it is all we really need to set the tone next season.
