Each new or returning lifeguard applicant who is hired can receive up to $1,000, which would be disbursed in three installments in paychecks, said Shanea Allen, parks and recreation aquatics manager. “We are definitely experiencing a challenge getting lifeguards in and getting them to fill our staff, definitely,” said Allen.
