Long Grove Country House merchant John Kopecky, secretary for the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association, credited the turnout to the banner weather over the three days of the event.
“Apple’s always the best,” Kopecky said. “People ... realize that when you live in Chicagoland, when the weather decides it’s over, it’s over. So I’m very excited about it all.”
Nearby booth vendor Ashley Klatecki, owner of Spears Bourbon Burgers and Beer restaurant in Wheeling, made apple-flavored cotton candy. “We also use apple juice as well, it’s a good mix,” Kopecky said. “We put some other things in there to liven it up, but I can’t tell you that because people will be listening.”
Kaushal and Lopa Chokshi of Glenview strolled the premises with their children Leah, 6, and Sofia, 2. The Chokshi family tried the apple doughnuts, and visited the expanded carnival.
