Los Gatos Town Council voted to extend an urgency ordinance that includes local objective standards for Senate Bill 9 for an additional 10 months at its virtual meeting Tuesday.
Los Gatos staff will work to create a permanent ordinance with further modifications to replace the urgency ordinance before it expires. The ordinance, which first passed in December 2021, was set to expire on Feb. 4.
Los Gatos’s current urgency ordinance includes local objective standards like housing restrictions, fire hazard mitigations, building height maximums and minimum lot sizes, planning manager Jennifer Armer said. Some residents asked for changes to the ordinance to more closely conform with the original SB9 language.
“We live in an ADU,” Wimberly said. “An ADU program has done a great deal for additional affordable housing in Los Gatos.”
