With the series right around the corner, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power composer Bear McCreary shares his reaction fans who are hesitant about embracing the new show. This latest adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's work first started becoming a reality in 2017, when Amazon purchased the TV rights to The Lord of the Rings for a major $250 million price tag.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With that said, The Rings of Power is not a continuation of either of Jackson's beloved trilogies, but instead is based on the Lords of the Rings appendices, written by Tolkien and found at the end of his book, The Return of the King.
I understand fans being hesitant to embrace The Rings of Power. What I’ve wanted to say to everybody for the last two years is: Every person you would want on every job is there. For a long time, it was just, ‘Who from the movies is there?’ And then they’re not, so ‘I don’t trust you.' I get it, but the person doing the costumes is the right person. The person writing is definitely the right person. The actors, the editors, and me… It’s going to surprise fans in a pleasant way.
The hesitation to accept The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power isn't difficult to understand, given Tolkien's original novels have been beloved by fans since 1954 and has amassed a large following. Meanwhile, Jackson captured the grandeur of The Lord of the Rings in a way that many argue can't be repeated, having been unlike anything most audiences had seen or experienced before at the time of its release.
While viewers can't quite gauge the quality of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power until its release, it is always encouraging to hear from cast and crew members who have total faith in their work. Some may find it difficult to trust someone new in the world of The Lord of the Rings, but Amazon can't be accused of not putting forth a valiant effort with their budget, massive ensemble cast, and large scope for the upcoming series.
