A lawyer for Gov. John Bel Edwards says the governor has agreed to testify before a bipartisan committee investigating allegations of a cover-up in the deadly 2019 arrest of Black motorist Ronald Greene.

The video, which showed critical moments and audio absent from other footage that was turned over, didn’t reach prosecutors until nearly two years after Greene’s May 10, 2019, death on a rural roadside near Monroe. Prosecutors and detectives have said they were not even aware the 30-minute clip existed until six months after the governor viewed it in October 2020.State Rep.

Edwards' top lawyer, Matthew Block, wrote in a public letter to the committee that he, another lawyer and the governor will all appear to testify.
