Luffy is now as strong as Rayleigh
Warning: Spoilers For One Piece Chapter #1091The Straw Hat Crew has grown their powers considerably since One Piece's time skip, and now that Luffy is fighting an Admiral, he's proclaimed that he is now at the same level as Rayleigh, the first mate of the legendary Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Pirate Emperor Luffy and Admiral Kizaru finally clash in chapter #1091 of One Piece, while the newly formed Straw Hat and Vegapunk alliance attempts to flee the surrounding island. Right before the Pika Pika no Mi using Admiral is able to attack the Thousand Sunny, he is intercepted by Luffy.
Luffy Puts Himself And The Straw Hats At Rayleigh's Level Now While it may seem like a random multiplier for Luffy to throw out to gloat about his crew's strength, it's a reference that ties directly to Rayleigh. Before Luffy punched a Celestial Dragon and summoned the wrath of Kizaru at the Sabody Archipelago, the Straw Hats met the bartender Shakky in chapter #498. She turned out to be the partner of the Pirate King's former first mate, Silvers Rayleigh.
The Straw Hats Are Ready For An Admiral After defeating Kaido in Wano, it was unclear how One Piece would be able to top itself. However, it didn't take long for the Egghead Island arc to set up a compelling mystery and epic battles no one saw coming. Luffy and the Straw Hat's facing Admiral Kizaru provides them the perfect opportunity to prove how far they have come since that fateful day.
