Rep. Ryan Zinke blamed the “Deep State” for attempting to stop his election to Congress, forgetting his own lapses of ethical behavior may have caused him to step on his two left feet

“There is no doubt the federal government Deep State coordinates with liberal activists and uses politicians and willing media to carry their water,” he continued. “In many cases, they want to wipe out the American cowboy completely, remove public access to our lands and turn Montana into a national park.”

Under Zinke’s tenure as Trump’s first interior secretary, the Department of the Interior shrank land designated as national monument at Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante by 85 percent and opened up almost the entire U.S. coastline to natural gas and oil drilling. Zinke’s Interior Department also eliminated protections for animals including the Endangered Species Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
