A man was arrested in connection with the murder of a woman who was found dead inside a trash container at a home in Brentwood Monday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Local NewsPolice said they were initially called to a home on West 41st Street Sunday evening for a well-being check after an acquaintance reported that she had not seen or spoken to the victim in approximately two weeks. She also reported smelling a “foul odor” coming from the house.When police arrived, officers spoke to the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Justin Henderson, and told officers he knew the victim but she did not live with him.
Henderson allowed officers to search inside his home. However, police said they did not observe anyone else inside or detect any foul odors, so they made a report and left. The following day, police were contacted once again and asked to go to Henderson’s home after concerned family members of the victim also reported they had been unable to make contact with her for several days. The family members also said that her social media had been inactive, which they described as “unusual,” according to Henderson’s arrest report.While searching outside, police said they found a body inside of a trash container.
