Semaj T. Pittman, 23, of Willingboro, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in exchange a 25-year prison sentence, prosecutors said. Police responded to a report of a shooting at The Arbors apartment complex in Maple Shade on Feb. 3, 2020, authorities said. Officers located one male and one female victim, both with gunshot wounds, near the elevator on the first floor of the building, officials said.Kayla Winkler, 22, was pronounced dead at the hospital, prosecutors said. Her boyfriend, 24, was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder and released, officials said.
Investigators later determined that Pittman and a teenage boy went to the apartment with the intention of robbing the couple, who they knew as acquaintances, authorities said. After the couple let them in the apartment, the robbers shot at them as they tried to run out the door, prosecutors said. The teen, an Evesham resident, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder last year, authorities said. Prosecutors have not released his name.
