At around 12:15 p.m., two officers on patrol in a marked police vehicle spotted Charles around the 600 block of East Marion Street.
On Saturday, around 7:55 a.m., Lancaster City officers responded to reports of shots fired on the first block of Conestoga Street. When they arrived, officers did not locate any suspects.They utilized footage from the Lancaster Safety Coalition and learned that a single suspect, Doodley Charles, a homeless male, 18-years-old fired a gunshot at a house in the block. When they approached, Charles fled on foot from the two officers.
Charles fled into a resident’s backyard and the officers set up a perimeter to prevent Charles from escaping. Police located Charles hiding behind a basement door. He was safely taken into custody and a loaded, polymer 80 “ghost gun” was found nearby.Charles was charged with multiple weapons-related offenses as well as multiple counts of recklessly endangering another person for shooting into an occupied residence on Conestoga Street.
