Osman Estanly Solorzano Sanchez, 32, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Ricardo Vega, 27, on W. Canino Road near the North Freeway.
Police say Vega called 911 to report the suspect had a gun before he was shot. According to prosecutors, Solorzano admitted he was the shooter and said he tossed the gun out the window as he sped away.
Surveillance video obtained by KHOU shows Vega, in his Toyota sedan, apparently following the suspect's truck southbound on Berwyn Drive. Vega's vehicle and Solorzano's truck turned right from Berwyn onto Canino Drive, not far from where Vega was shot and killed. Currently, Solorzano has a $150,000 bond. He waived his probable cause appearance but is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday. Garcia is hoping Solorzano receives the maximum punishment allowed.
