The gunman convicted of fatally shooting a man in Seattle's CHOP district in 2020 was sentenced to 14 years in prison Friday.

Marcel Long shot 19-year-old Horace Lorenzo Anderson on June 20, 2020, in the city's eight-block autonomous zone known as the Capitol Hill Organization Protest. Anderson would die the next day as a result of his injuries and the zone's delay in allowing him medical treatment. Long, then 18, would flee the zone only to be arrested a year later in Des Moines, Washington.

A King County Superior Court judge also sentenced Long to three years in community custody and a restitution fee which has yet to be determined. Community custody centers are still operated by King County's Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention. "What we ain't gon do, we're not gonna disrespect my son," Donnita Sinclair said in court prior to the sentencing. She also went on to approach the bench where Judge Karen Donohue sat."And judge, you're responsible, so here I come to the motherf***ing court."Long was temporarily removed from the courtroom when Sinclair approached the bench, and the gallery broke out in screams.

Anderson was one of two teenagers murdered in the area that month in June. Antonio Mays Jr., 16, died in a separate July 2020 shooting incident that also wounded a 14-year-old boy. While the suspected gunman was caught on video, no one has not been brought into custody in connection to Mays's death.
