A South Jersey man was hospitalized in critical condition following a stabbing at a home in Pittsgrove Township on Monday morning, officials said.Olsen told investigators that his father died recently and his adoptive mother had started dating the victim, “which upset him,” according to his affidavit of probable cause.
Troopers arriving on the scene also found Olsen covered in blood, though he was apparently not injured. He was taken into custody and later provided a statement to police, they said. Police found substantial blood spatter in the home and a search warrant yielded a blood-stained folding knife, which was found in the rear bedroom, “where the majority of the blood spatter evidence was also located,” the report noted.
In addition to attempted murder, Olsen is charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility pending court hearings. Attorney information for him was not immediately available.
