A man drowned Thursday in a lake in Bucks County after rescuing children who appeared to be in distress, authorities said.
Marvin Alexan Fernandez Chicas, 37, rescued two children Thursday afternoon at Lake Nockamixon when he disappeared in the water, Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said in a news release. Emergency personnel were called to the lake off of Mountain View Drive and Chicas was later found dead. Following an autopsy Friday morning, Buck said Chicas drowned and ruled his death an accident.
His family has been notified and “our office extends its deepest condolences to the decedent’s family and friends during this difficult time as they process this tragic loss,” Buck said.in Bucks County. Questions about the incident to the park office were deferred to the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
