Fort Worth TX Police Chief Neil Noakes speaks on an incident where officers shot and injured a man on March 14, who they said was suicidal.
Police Chief Neil Noakes said “because of threat posed to public by officers had to take action immediately to protect citizens in area.”
Ramos remains in the hospital in stable condition, Noakes said. Once he’s released, he will be booked into an area jail. Noakes said “because of threat posed to the public by Ramos officers had to take action immediately to protect citizens in area.”About 7:40 p.m. March 14, officers responded to a private home in the 5600 block of Wedgworth Road when Ramos’ wife called 911 saying he was drunk, suicidal and had found her 9 mm handgun.Body-camera footage shows one officer standing behind a tree across the street from Ramos. Noakes said the officer attempted to de-escalate the situation by showing compassion.
