Both the police and fire departments are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Saturday night in a burning truck in the Oakland hills.
OAKLAND — A man was found dead late Saturday night inside a burning truck in the East Oakland hills, authorities said.
The coroner’s office was trying to confirm the man’s identity and contact his relatives before releasing his name.The man was found dead after firefighters were called about a pick-up truck on fire about 11:44 p.m. Saturday in the 9500 block of Mountain Boulevard, a mostly residential area next to Interstate 580 and west of Calafia Avenue.
It took firefighters until about midnight to put the fire out. Initial reports were that the man was burned beyond recognition. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the fire and police departments are investigating what happened.
