Police said the victim may have gotten onto the freeway hoping to drive himself to a hospital.
OAKLAND — A 57-year-old man shot while driving March 29 — who then continued driving, but crashed his van and died on Interstate 580 — was identified by authorities Tuesday.
A motive for the killing of Delondo Bellamy still has not been confirmed, police said. No arrests have been announced. Bellamy, of Oakland, was shot about 10:30 p.m. March 29 as he was driving in the 300 block of Van Buren Avenue in the Adams Point neighborhood, probably by someone standing outside, authorities said.
Despite being wounded he was able to drive onto nearby Interstate 580 where he crashed in the eastbound lanes near Park Boulevard. He was pronounced dead there.
