A 29-year-old man was arrested on accusations of trying to kidnap a 12-year-old girl in the Sugar House neighborhood. According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, it happened on Friday at 10:45 p.m. near the I-80 overpass at 700 East.Brent Weisberg with SLCPD explained that the incident involved two children who were walking, and at some point, a suspect identified as Mason Andrew Musser came out of some bushes and grabbed the 12-year-old by the wrist and started pulling.
The 12-year-old's friend started fighting with Musser and was able to break the grip, waving down a community member for help."We encourage guardians and parents to remind their children to make sure that they tell them they can go to someone they trust, like a schoolteacher, a family member, or simply call 911 themselves and let them know about the situation.
The police added that this is a rare and isolated incident. They are asking the public to come forward if they have any information about the incident.
